Magical Hammer Productions Update 2024

Hello world,

Michael here. Thought I would take the time to update you all. I know it has been a while as the blog and the podcast hadn’t seen any action in a bit. But things are moving behind the scenes here at Magical Hammer. I’ve been gearing up for the release of Scorned Waifu, which has almost finished running the film festival circuit. I am excited to get that film out there and see what kind of reactions it gets. In terms of our 3rd production, we are finishing it up post production, which should hopefully see completion within the next few months. Along with that, I am getting ready to begin production on my 4th feature film. Which sounds kind of crazy to say. Along with that, I’ve been working on some new scripts. So as you can see, things are progressing, so there should be some new content out there soon.

In terms of the podcast, the podcast went on hiatus due to life stuff happening with The Boy. Life also kinda hit me with a few good punches this summer as well. My grandpa passed away, which was the first big family death which has happened in a while in our family. Along with that, a few big financial expenses came at me such as a $4000 car repair and some miscellaneous other expenses where my emergency fund took a hit. But if my filmmaking journey has taught me anything so far, it’s that life is like a quest filled with perseverance and which requires a tenacious grip. I’m taking life one day at a time and getting ready to put my energy into the next film. So I would like to bring back the podcast at some point, but I don’t know when that will be. In the meantime, I figured I could fire up the blog again at least.

In terms of movie reviews, I have been active and up to date on Letterboxd. Letterboxd is such a fun app, I totally recommend it if you don’t have it and like to log the movies you watch. It’s also worth it to see the fun meme reviews people post on popular movies. I much prefer it to IMdB, IMdB is fine but I find the UI to be confusing at times and weirdly clutter.

If you have letterboxd, be sure to give me a follow.

Anyway, feels good to be hacking away at that keyboard again. For that one or so person who reads this, thanks for taking the time and your support. I know our industry is in a bit of doom and gloom right now with the AI Revolution and Hollywood’s continued corporate tone with countless remakes and squeals. But for us indie filmmakers, now just might be the time to strike. While big wig investors are to nervous to take any risks, us in the indie scene can shine forth with originality.  Let me tell you, I have like 20 ideas for movies. If only they didn’t take so long to make.
